Personalities vary by dog, just like they do with people! In general, Welsh Springer Spaniels are reserved with strangers but, once they get to know someone, are friendly and confident if socialized properly.
All of our puppies are raised with their mother and litter mates until they go home. They are never kenneled and live in the house with us. We socialize intensely and expose them to new experiences so that when they go home they are able to adjust quickly and easily to their surroundings.
We don't recommend male or female, but rather recommend a puppy based on personality, what you are looking for, and the lifestyle you live. There really isn't much of a difference between males and females - both are loving, snuggly, and outgoing!
Welsh Springer Spaniels are bred to flush birds and game all day long, which means their exercise needs are more than most breeds. How much exercise is based on individual dog, but be ready for a lot of endless energy and playtime, especially with young dogs.
We do not allow our puppies to fly as cargo. If you are interested in one of our puppies you must be able to pick up the puppy yourself and, if flying, bring a carrier that will fit under the seat in the cabin of the plane. Puppies that are flying must be picked up before 9.5 weeks of age in order to be able to fly in cabin.
We are happy to help as best as we can for any Welsh Springer Spaniel question you may have. We will answer any questions that we can via email or phone, but if there is a better resource for you to use we will recommend that you go there.
