Jean Lowry, the founder of Avalon Welsh Springer Spaniels, has over 30 years of experience loving and breeding Welsh Springers. Her dedication to the breed and her devotion to her dogs has led her to become an AKC Breeder of Merit and to breed the 2015 Westminster Best of Breed winner, GCHS Avalon's All Hallows Eve Perseus.

All of our dogs are a part of our family, we never kennel our dogs and they are always raised and loved in our home. We strive to breed dogs with good conformation and sweet dispositions to be lifelong companions for their families.

Meet the Breeder

Jean Lowry

Jean Lowry is the founder of Avalon Welsh Springer Spaniels. Starting with her first Welsh Springer Spaniel, Alonzo, she developed a love for the breed that has spanned over 30 years. With Mattie as the foundation, she started the Avalon Kennel and has since become an AKC Breeder of Merit and bred the 2015 Westminster Best of Breed winner. She has been an AKC Breeder of Merit since Mattie's first litter, all earning conformation titles. Her subsequent litters have all produced Champions and Grand Champions as well, showing a consistent dedication to preserving the breed and its standards.

Rachel Knotts

Rachel Knotts is the granddaughter of Jean Lowry, following in her grandmother's footsteps as a breeder at Avalon Welsh Springer Spaniels. After growing up with many Welshies, it was only natural for her to get her first Welsh Springer, Dewey, from her grandmother's litter with Mattie. She now owns and adores Gabriel and Lili, going to shows as an owner-handler team. Rachel bred her first litter with her grandmother in 2022.
